This
new “Sheath
System” for the Harsey Tactical Knife features rugged
construction and a multitude of equipment attachment options.
Sheath Construction:
The body of the sheath is constructed of nylon Ballistic-Cloth material
that
is double stitched & bound with nylon thread throughout. Nylon strapping
is used for the belt loops and these straps are double lock stitched into place.
The face and back of the pouch area have sewn-in stiffeners for strength and
to help the sheath maintain its shape during rugged use. The attachment straps
are sewn through this material for added strength. Class-A 1-inch nylon buckles
are used on the pocket flap for strength, ease of use and long life.
Sheath Function:
The face of the sheath has a 1 inch buckle to hold the
pouch flap down. (No Velcro is used in this sheath because of the noise it makes
and its nature of having
every type of weed or seed in the field sticking to it.) The pouch strap is adjustable
for length to compensate for stretching of the material (this always happens
to any nylon material) allowing the user tighten-up the fit of the pouch as he
desires. This adjustment will also adjust the fit of the sheath if the user decides
to remove the pocket clip from his knife. Inside the pouch is a sewn-down clip
strap to provide additional holding force under extremely rugged conditions such
and airborne insertion operations. If the clip is placed towards the back of
the sheath this feature is engaged. When the clip is faced to the front this
feature is not engaged allowing the knife to come in and out the sheath easily.
This allows the user to determine how much force he wants to retain the knife
into the sheath depending on his activity. If he wants the extra holding force
he simply inserts the knife into the sheath with the belt-clip facing the back
of the sheath. The belt clip will then lock onto the nylon strap sewn into the
back of the pouch providing additional holding force into the pouch. When this
additional holding force is not required he simply needs to face the clip to
the front of the pouch easy insertion and removal of the knife.
Attachment Options:
This Sheath System features many attachment options:
· D-Ring at the top-back of the pouch and tie-down grommets on the extended
bottom
flap below the pouch
· Sewn-down 2 inch belt loop of nylon webbing, double row back stitched
through
the pouch back
·
Sewn-down 3 ½ inch belt loop of nylon webbing, double row back stitched
through the pouch back
·
4 ½ long by 1 inch wide attachment strap with Lift-To-Dot snap for use
on the new Special-Operations Vest system.
