     R.W. Loveless is one of the most famous knife makers in the world today. He has been making knives for close to 50 years and is still turning out as many as time permits in his Riverside, California shop. Bob is opinionated, well read, strong willed and a knife making genius. A visit to his shop would amaze you at the number of books that fills every shelf and corner that is not already filled with equipment and supplies. Not only is he the master of sculpting metal into knives he has a broad range of knowledge about almost any topic you can imagine. He has a love of fine watches, shotguns and a vast knowledge of firearms in general.

      Over his career he has developed the classic “Loveless” design for fixed blade knives. When you hold any of his knives in your hand you realize that his designs are the culmination of everything he has learned about how to make a knife perform its cutting function and its integration into the mechanical/physiological functions of the human body. His knives simply come alive in your hand and feel like a natural extension of the hand itself. What more could you ask from a knife? Loveless creates his knives by fitting his handles and blades with high precision using the best materials. He knows steel and how to get the most out of it. Always on the search for new and better materials, he has been a leader in introducing new materials to the knife making community while sharing his research with everyone. He is mostly known for his drop-point hunting knife designs but the pattern wall in his shop will show you everything from kitchen knives to sub-hilt bowie knives.

     There are many collectors who would buy every knife he can make from this point forward. Bob says “ I make knives for everyone. Anyone who wants to order a knife will be put on my list and I will make their knife when I get to it. I want my knives in someone’s hand, not in a museum.” R.W.
