Jeff Angelo - Designer Profile.
|
| When planning a knife project his artistic vision allows him to picture the finished knife in his mind and make mental adjustments in its features before he touches the materials. |
Jeff Angelo grew up in South Africa where he still resides. His family was very outdoors oriented so they hunted and camped as much as possible. He grew up learning the meaning of working-with-your-hands so his skills at building, creating and just plain working hard were learned early in life. His family was also very artistic and he used this talent and love of hunting to develop his gunsmith and knife making skills.
Jeff has been a gunsmith for over twenty years so it is only natural that he evolved into custom knife making. In 1999 he started to produce more knives and as Jeff puts it, "Knife making seemed to come natural to me." He attended his first knife show in April of 2000 and displayed his fixed blade knives. After examining the workmanship on these knives, an old custom knife maker at the show asked him why he did not build folding knives. Jeff did not really have an answer for him but made what he called a "lame-excuse" about not having the right equipment. The old-timers question got his mind thinking about folders and he designed his first solid-frame-folder while sitting at the show. By June, he had finished the prototype of his "Impunzi" folder. Sales for his folders took off like a rocket and he has not built many fixed blade knives since April of 2000. Although Jeff loves to build folders, he can be convinced to build an occasional fixed blade with enough "arm-bending" as he puts it. When planning a knife project his artistic vision allows him to picture the finished knife in his mind and make mental adjustments in its features before he touches the materials. He can sketch out his designs and talk about features and changes with each customer before he starts their knife. This is a tremendous advantage over simply building each knife and hoping you find a customer for it. With Jeff's talent for knife building, this has not been a problem as the knives he builds seem to have universal appeal with knife lovers everywhere. Jeff feels he is blessed with the ability to envision his designs and then build them because the connection between his mind and his hands is quite good. Many of us can envision the perfect design but simply lack the ability to transfer it into form and function. This is not a problem for Jeff and he "Thanks the Lord" each day for his God given talents.

One of Jeff's greatest pleasures is watching his customers enjoy their knives and appreciating the hard work and skill it took to create it. Jeff has a single goal when he builds each knife, "I build each knife as if I were building it for myself. I want each knife to be as perfect as I can build it." Lone Wolf Knives is proud to be working with Jeff Angelo. We plan to build more of his fine designs in the near future.
